Summer School 2020

In the midst of the uncertainty that we all face navigating the impacts of Covid-19, we are very excited to announce that this year’s Summer School courses will be held entirely online. All of the previously-announced courses will continue to be offered (subject to adequate enrollment). Please anticipate similar learning formats to what we have already been using during Quarter 4 (e.g., Google Classroom and Zoom). We will work to ensure that families have access to the necessary curriculum and technology, through textbook and laptop distribution, as needed. We will keep you updated as plans continue to develop, and we are grateful for your patience and partnership! As a reminder, online enrollment will remain open through Monday, June 1.

Each summer, Lincoln Prep offers classes for existing and new students. Mr. Thurau, our Summer School Coordinator, has worked to create this years offerings, information on which can be found in the Summer School Packet. This packet includes course offerings, dates, and costs. Registration is open from Monday, April 6 through Monday, June 1 through the Payment Portal.

Summer school is for new, incoming students who want to prepare for the upcoming classes they will be enrolled in in the fall, for current students who have struggled in a class and who need to retake it, and for current students who want to develop stronger skill sets with extra support before taking the next grade-level class in the fall. If you are recommended to enroll in a Summer School course, or if you are interested and think your student may benefit from Summer School, please contact Mr. Thurau at

Students enrolled in summer school courses will enter and exit through the east entrance of the school (facing Gilbert Rd., where drop-off and pick-up occur), as the front office will not be open for full summer school hours. Students will not have access to a locker, the front office, or the health assistant during summer school. Any medications over and above Tylenol or Ibuprofen (including all prescriptions) should be left with the Summer School Lead, Mr. Thurau.

Summer School is open to Great Hearts students. Students are required to conform to Lincoln Preparatory Academy standards of behavior and dress code, outlined in the Family Handbook (found on the Lincoln Prep home page). Students are permitted to wear non-uniform tennis shoes during summer school only (but they will need to wear uniform shoes when the school year starts in August). Students who attend from other Great Hearts schools may wear the uniform of their school.

You may begin viewing the classes in the Payment Portal, where you will start registering your students on April 6.
